May 5, 2004 Nominations sought for outstanding animal science alumniWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Nominations are now being accepted for Purdue University's Distinguished Animal Sciences Alumni Awards. The three awards, which will be presented to graduates of the Department of Animal Sciences, are in the categories of early career (5-15 years), career (16-30 years) and lifetime (30+ years). Nominations are due by July 1 and must include a completed nomination form. Forms are available online at http://www.ansc.purdue.edu/alumni/index.html. A typed, one-page description of the nominee's accomplishments also is required and should include how the nominee contributed to the animal science industry, academia, governmental service, other endeavors related to animal sciences or an affiliated profession as exemplified by leadership accomplishments. Any person or group affiliated with the Department of Animal Sciences, Purdue or the animal science industry can make a nomination. Awards will be presented at the animal sciences reunion on Oct. 16. Each award will include a plaque and a gift. Recipients also will be expected to give a presentation to faculty and students on Oct. 15. "We are very proud of our many great alumni and look forward to recognizing three award winners at Homecoming this year," said Ron Lemenager, award committee chairman.
