Appointments and promotions

Alicia Pilon has been appointed major gift officer for the College of Engineering. Pilon was formerly employed as director of development for the Peak Association of the Arts, Boulder Colo., and previously was director of development for the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado.

Campus activities

Jim Berger, professor of statistics at Duke University, will present the Pillai Lecture in Statistics at 4:30 p.m. on May 14 in the Mathematics Building, Room 175. Coffee will be offered in the Math Building Library at 4 p.m.

Faculty and staff honors

Li Zhang, assistant professor of visual communications design in the Patti and Rusty Rueff Department of Visual and Performing Arts, received the honorable award for her poster "Designing Across Borders." The award is from The Communicators Awards, an international awards competition. Zhang's work also will be featured this spring in étapes, a French design magazine.

Russ Jones, division chair and associate professor of theater in the Patti and Rusty Rueff Department of Visual and Performing Arts, has been selected by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival to receive the Summer Intensives Faculty Fellowship in Washington, D.C. In July, Jones will study with one of the nation's leading professional scenic designers while working with costume and lighting designs on three projects.
