Faculty and staff honors

– Sue Abney, nutrition education coordinator for the Student Wellness Office, earned the 2004 Member Media Award from the Indiana Dietetic Association. She received the honor during the annual IDA meetings at the Marriott-East in Indianapolis.

– Diane Guinan, academic adviser in the School of Liberal Arts for the area of health and kinesiology, was named the 2004 Graduate of Distinction at Victor (N.Y.) Central Schools. Guinan graduated from Victor Central High School in 1974. She will be recognized at the June commencement.

Anne Washburn has accepted the position of director of Purdue United Way Campaign. Washburn was formerly employed by Lafayette Life Insurance Company.

Student honors

– Five Purdue University nuclear engineering students brought home awards during an April conference of the American Nuclear Society in Madison, Wis. Kristen Wangerin, of Dyer, Ind., won a best paper award; Matt Cameron, of Indianapolis, won a best presentation award for thermal hydraulics; Hayden Olenik, of Avondale, Pa., won an outstanding presentation award in materials sciences; Dan Mundy, of St. Joseph, Mich., won a best presentation award in nuclear technology in medicine and industry; and Mike King, of Cincinnati, won an outstanding presentation award for nuclear technology in medicine and industry. All of the students are undergraduates except for Mundy, who is a graduate student.
