Children’s musician Tom Chapin returns to Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Musician Tom Chapin will make his second appearance at Purdue University at 7 p.m. Friday (4/16) in Stewart Center's Loeb Playhouse.

Chapin, who will be performing a collection of children's music including the Grammy nominated song "This Pretty Planet," played to a sold-out audience at Purdue in 2002. He has been recognized with one Grammy Award and three nominations and seven Parents' Choice Awards.

Billboard calls Chapin "the best family artist around." And Parents Magazine wrote, "Nobody today is writing and performing better kids' songs than Tom Chapin … the Pied Piper of children's music."

Jon Cobert (piano and accordion) and Michael Mark (bass and concertina) will accompany Chapin. Cobert has recorded with musicians including John Lennon, John Denver, Harry Chapin and Laura Branigan, among others. He wrote the themes for ESPN's "Baseball Tonight" and "College Football Gameday" as well as hundreds of TV and radio jingles. Mark is best known for writing the theme for the television show "Entertainment Tonight." He also is an actor and was part of the original Broadway cast of "I Love My Wife."

Tickets are $10 for students and children and $14 for adults. Ticket price includes a $1 service fee. Tickets are on sale now at any campus box office by calling (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW, or at any Ticketmaster outlet.
