April 6, 2004 Purdue sponsors diversity in the classroom conferenceWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University's second annual multi-departmental Diversity in the Classroom Project conference will be Thursday (4/8) in Stewart Center. Several sessions will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. featuring community and Purdue experts concerned about diversity education. "The goal of the Diversity in the Classroom Project is to bring about an increase in awareness of diversity in the educational setting and integrate related concepts into the curriculum and classroom environment," says Dorothy Simpson-Taylor, director of the diversity resource office, a division of the Office of the Vice President of Human Relations. The conference is co-sponsored by the Office of the Vice President of Human Relations and the schools of Consumer and Family Sciences, Education and Liberal Arts.
