March 18, 2004 WBAA to host community forum on same-sex marriageWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Same-sex marriage will be the focus of discussion when WBAA resumes its broadcasting of "WBAA Town Forum" at 7 p.m. Tuesday (3/23) in the Tippecanoe Room of the Tippecanoe County Office Building in Lafayette. Forum panelists will be William P. McLauchlan, an associate professor of political science at Purdue; Barry A. Schreier, secretary and media chair of Citizens for Civil Rights, a Lafayette-based advocacy group; and Indiana state Sen. Brandt Hershman, R-Wheatfield, author of Senate Joint Resolution 0007, a proposed state constitutional amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman. The show will be broadcast live, and the public is invited to attend and participate in the discussion. WBAA general manager Dan Skinner will serve as a facilitator, while WBAA-FM program director Brandi Parisi will moderate the discussion. "This is an important topic that has risen to national prominence with recent events throughout the country, including those in Massachusetts and San Francisco," Parisi said. "This is a great chance for people in the community to not only hear from people on each side of the issue, but also to add their voices to the important debate."
