Pianist Angela Jia Kim to perform Chopin, Haydn and Schubert

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Pianist Angela Jia Kim will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 7, in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall at Purdue University.

Presented by Purdue Convocations, Kim will perform Chopin's Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58, Haydn's Sonata in C Major XVI: 50 and Schubert's Impromptus, numbers 1-4, Op. 90.

A native of Ames, Iowa, Kim has performed throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She has been a guest performer at the Glenn Gould Studio and Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto and at the Chopin Academy in Warsaw, Poland. She was honored by the French Piano Institute in Paris with the award for Best Interpretation of French Music, which led to performances of the music of Debussy, Ravel and Poulenc at Salle Cortot in Paris and at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C.

Kim's performances have been broadcast throughout Canada, Vermont and the Midwest. In addition, she has been the recipient of awards and grants from the arts councils of New York and Iowa.
