Fine art exhibit features graduate student work

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – An exhibit featuring artwork by Purdue University visual and performing arts graduate students will open March 1.

"Digressions" includes a variety of mediums, such as painting, printmaking, jewelry, ceramics and sculpture, from 15 graduate students in fine arts. The exhibit, which is free and open to the public, will run March 1-9 at the main gallery in the Visual and Performing Arts Building, 552 W. Wood St. A reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. on March 3.

"To digress means to deviate or turn aside from the main subject," says Gurpran (Bunny) Rau, one of the graduate students whose work will be displayed. "We thought this was an appropriate title because the work is so diverse, and the techniques used to create the art digress from what might be considered the norm."

The gallery's hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
