Research Park company simulates terrorist threat for armed forces

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Sponsored by the U.S. Joint Forces Command (JFCOM), Simulex Inc. on Tuesday (1/27) will run a social, political and economic war game simulation at the Purdue Research Park.

The event is designed to evaluate the actions of participants in the event of a terrorist threat or attack using weapons of mass destruction.

Journalists are invited to attend a portion of the event at 9 a.m. in the large conference room at the Purdue Technology Center, 3000 Kent Ave.

Created through computational models of human behavior, Simulex's SEAS(tm) technology has been developed in association with Purdue University. The simulation will include participants from JFCOM, Purdue and Fortune 500 companies who will assume various roles in the synthetic environment. Artificial agents will respond to the actions of the human agents in a Web-based environment.

The media will have an opportunity to interview Simulex co-founders Alok Chaturvedi and Shailendra Mehta, both associate professors of management at Purdue's Krannert School of Management. Media also will be able to interview officials from JFCOM and obtain video of the simulation played out on a projector screen.
