Faculty and staff honors

– The School of Liberal Arts' Academic Success Center was awarded the Internet Resource of the Month Award from the National Newsletter for College Learning Centers. The Web site features information about the center's workshops, class schedules and staff. The center was known as the Learning Center before its name was changed this fall.

– Three Purdue staff members received the newly created Dreamer Award, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Human Relations. The award recognizes members of the university community for service that brings the university closer to fulfilling the dream of Martin Luther King Jr. Each of this year's recipients was honored for outstanding contributions to Purdue University's Martin Luther King Day observance activities, particularly the gifts-in-kind drive and day of service. The recipients were: Kenneth Field, coordinator of retail operations in the University Residences office; Jane Cassidy, webmaster and Web page designer for the Office of the Vice President of Housing and Food Services; and Elaine McVay, director of marketing and communications for the Office of the Vice President of Housing and Food Services. They were recognized on Monday (1/19) during the university's program to honor King.

Campus activities

At the reception, the students who participated will share some of the experiences they had during the trip, which was sponsored by Birthright Israel, the Jewish community and Hillel: The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life.
