New series brings health scholars to campus

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Department of Health and Kinesiology's first colloquium series will feature four presentations this spring semester on health-related issues such as obesity and athletics.

"There is no shortage of news focusing on the health of Americans, and this new series will provide an opportunity for students, faculty and community members to hear from some of the best scholars in their respective disciplines," says Tom Templin, professor and head of the Department of Health and Kinesiology.

The first speaker is Claude Bouchard, executive director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center at Louisiana State University. Bouchard will present "The Obesity Epidemic: Gluttony, Sloth or Nature?" at 7 p.m. Tuesday (1/27) in Stewart Center, Room 214.

The series, which is sponsored by the School of Liberal Arts, is free and open to the public.
