January 16, 2004 Faculty, staff and alumni honorsFaculty and staff honors Austin S. Babrow, professor of communication, was awarded the Charles H. Woolbert Award at the 2003 National Communication Association annual meeting. The award is presented to an association member who has published a book chapter or journal article that has remained a significant contribution to the field of speech communication for more than 10 years. Alumni honors President George W. Bush appointed Andrew B. Maner, 1991 alumnus in the School of Liberal Arts, to be the chief financial officer of the Department of Homeland Security. Maner currently serves as chief of staff and director of the Transition Management Office of U.S. Customs and Border Protection for the Department of Homeland Security.
