September 10, 2001 Beering Drive reopens to traffic todayWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Steven C. Beering Drive, located just west of Ross-Ade Stadium on the West Lafayette campus, will reopen to traffic at 5 p.m. today (Monday, 9/10). Beering Drive has been closed since last February so that the segment that runs adjacent to the stadium could be relocated in preparation for the renovation of that facility this winter. A new east/west, two-way street named Victory Drive has been constructed just north of the stadium. Beering Drive from Cherry Lane to the new Victory Drive is a two-way street, but Beering Drive changes to one-way southbound where it runs adjacent to the stadium between Victory and Tower drives. A new stop sign has been installed at the intersection of Beering and Victory drives where the one-way restriction begins. Because sidewalks along Beering Drive have not yet been completed, pedestrians should use the University Street and Hilltop Apartments' sidewalks on the stadium's west side.
