Information security alliance to be announcedPurdue University's Center for Education and Research in Information Assurance and Security (CERIAS) will announce Monday (12/11) the formation of an alliance aimed at protecting Indiana's information security assets. Details will be made available during a 1 p.m. news conference at the Purdue Research Park. The event will be held in the Purdue Technology Center, 3000 Kent Ave. Speakers will include Martin C. Jischke, Purdue president; Eugene Spafford, director of CERIAS; and Paul Overhauser, chief administrative officer of eSMART Corporation in Indianapolis. CONTACT: Jeanine Smith, (765) 496-3133; jeanine@purdue.edu Purdue to conduct winter commencementApproximately 2,950 students are eligible to participate in West Lafayette commencement ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, in the Elliott Hall of Music, said Kathleen Munn, assistant registrar. The morning ceremony is for the schools of agriculture, engineering, technology and veterinary medicine. The afternoon ceremony is for the schools of consumer and family sciences, education, liberal arts, management, pharmacy, nursing and health sciences and science. Purdue President Martin C. Jischke will be the featured commencement speaker. Purdue Alumni Association President Thomas J. Carroll, Carmel, Ind., also will address the new graduates during the West Lafayette ceremonies. Lee, who oversaw a Purdue office that attracts 85,000 people for 800 conferences annually, is retiring after 35 years of service to the university. Lee directs the Purdue Conference Division, which brings in revenues of about $10 million annually. He also is the associate director of the Continuing Education Administration.
