December 1, 2000 Purdue to host National Conference for AgribusinessWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Agribusiness executives will discuss issues critical to the industry's future at Purdue University during the National Conference for Agribusiness, January 29-30, 2001. The theme for the 2001 event is "Selling Redefined: Innovative Sales Strategies for a Virtual World." The conference is sponsored by the Center for Agricultural Business, within the Agricultural Economics Department at Purdue. This year's focus will be on the adoption of technology in agribusiness management and selling. A few of the topics to be discussed include using technology to deepen customer relationships; how the role of the sales person is changing; and compensation issues for the changing sales force. Speakers will include Purdue professors, and experts from the industry inside and outside of agriculture. "We like to use industry leaders who can offer leading edge expertise," said Scott Downey, associate director of the Center for Agricultural Business. According to Downey, this is a fairly high profile event for executives in the agricultural industry. Agribusiness people from Argentina, Australia and Canada have already expressed interest in attending the conference. "I expect it to be a fairly diverse group," said Downey. As many as 300 professionals in the agricultural industry are expected to attend the annual event. Early registration is $695. After Dec. 11, registration is $795. There is a $50 per-person discount if three or more individuals from the same company register for the conference. Questions about the conference or registration should be directed to the Center at (765) 494-4247.
