November 28, 2000 State's largest Christmas tree moves to the UnionPreparations for the display of the state's largest indoor natural Christmas tree begin Thursday (11/30). This year's tree, donated by Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Overly of Lafayette, will be cut down at approximately 8 a.m. From their property in Lafayette, the tree will be moved to the Great Hall at the Memorial Union with set up to be completed at approximately noon. Decorating will be finished by Union staff on Dec. 1 and the tree will be illuminated through Dec. 15. Other Purdue Student Union Board Christmas events include the annual "Breakfast with Santa" from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, in the La Posada dining area. Sounds of the season concerts featuring local artists will be presented daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Great Hall during the week of Dec. 4. Groups will hand out free food samples and set up booths to inform people about holiday celebrations around the world from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6.
