U.S. Olympic Committee CEO to speak

Purdue alumnus Norman P. Blake Jr. will relate his experience as CEO and secretary-general of the United States Olympic Committee and the stories behind the 2000 Olympic Games in Australia. The talk, part of the Krannert Executive Forum speaker series, is at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, in the Krannert Auditorium.

Before Blake took the reins of the USOC, he had put together a successful corporate career. After working for General Electric, he became CEO of Chicago-based Heller International Corp. in 1984.

In 1990, Blake led an eight-year turnaround at Baltimore-based insurer USF&G. During that period, cumulative shareholder return was more than 200 percent and market capitalization grew more than 300 percent.

Blake, whose tenure at the USOC began in February 2000, recently announced he was resigning from his post.
