November 3, 2000 'Real World' meets the real world at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue Student Union Board (PSUB) will present two alumni from MTV's "The Real World," at 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, in a "Real World Reunion" at the Purdue Memorial Union's South Ballroom. Admission is $3 for Purdue students and $5 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Rachel Campos-Duffy of 1994's San Francisco season and Colin Mortensen of 1999's Hawaiian season will discuss conflict resolution, diversity and living responsibly. They also will talk about their "The Real World" experiences. The event will feature a question and answer session. "Students in college and high school will gain a lot from this presentation," said Heather Owen, program advisor for Purdue Student Union Board. "When students move on to a college campus, they have to adjust to new living situations, new people and the new responsibility of living on their own. This event should help empower people to take more ownership of how they are living and interacting with people throughout their college years." Campos-Duffy married Sean Duffy, who was on 1998's Boston edition of "Real World," and they are raising a new baby in Hayward, Wis. Mortensen was featured in last season's short-lived NBC television series, "M.Y.O.B." PSUB, celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, develops programs for students created by students. The organization provides students with leadership opportunities and represents students in the cooperative management of the Purdue Memorial Union. The board is a non-exclusionary organization open to all Purdue students.
