October 27, 2000 The Children's Theatre Company brings a big, green crocodile to PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue Convocations will present The Children's Theatre Company production of "Lyle the Crocodile" at 4 p.m. Sunday (11/5) in Loeb Playhouse. Admission is $7 for general public, $5 for Purdue students. Tickets are on sale at Purdue box offices or charge by phone at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. Based on author/illustrator Bernard Waber's popular children's books, "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile" and "The House on East 88th Street," the play was adapted for the stage by Kevin Kling, a Minnesota playwright. Kling's work has been seen across the country at theaters including Minneapolis' Guthrie Theater, Actors Theater of Louisville, The Goodman and Seattle Children's Theatre. Lyle the Crocodile receives major underwriting from its lead sponsor, Cargill, and major sponsorship from 3M. Additional funding is provided by the Blandin Foundation. This activity is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature. In addition, this project is supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
