Consumer and Family Sciences engages
in 75th year celebration
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University's School of Consumer and Family Sciences has been addressing issues important to families, communities and society for 75 years. From establishing the first nursery school in Indiana, to offering in-dorm vacuum cleaner demonstrations, to conducting research on adolescent girls at "Camp Calcium," the school has become a national leader in promoting healthy families and communities.
The school is preparing to celebrate its 75th anniversary next year by making a special 2001 engagement calendar available to alumni and friends. The 8.5 inch-by-6 inch spiral-bound calendar features weekly planning pages combined with pages chronicling a pictorial and narrative history of the school. It also contains complete listings of past and present administrators, distinguished alumni, outstanding seniors, and faculty and student award winners.
"The calendar captures glimpses into the department's past," said Annie Watts Cloncs, 75th anniversary chairperson. "We've tried to highlight the people and events significant to the school's development and its impact."
The 75th anniversary commemorative calendar costs $20 and can be purchased in the CFS alumni office, Room G-94 Stone Hall, or by calling (765) 494-7890 or (800) 535-7303. Orders also are accepted by e-mail, cfsalums@cfs.purdue.edu.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the CFS scholarship fund.
