Purdue students offer hospitality to community

Purdue students are learning to give back to the Greater Lafayette community by working with local groups through a Hospitality and Tourism Management class.

During the next two weeks, student groups will be involved in a variety of service-based efforts that give them the opportunity to be involved in off-site quantity food service activities while enabling them to engage in community activities.

One group will be teaching elementary school children about healthy snacking at 3 p.m. on the following dates:

Thursday, Oct. 12 – Washington Elementary School

Monday, Oct. 17 – Miller Elementary School

Tuesday, Oct. 18 – Hannah Elementary School

Throughout the semester, other groups will be working with Lafayette Urban Ministry, the Salvation Army, and the YWCA's shelter for battered and abused women.
