Faculty and staff honorsJay T. Akridge, professor of agricultural economics, has received an award for outstanding distance-education programs for Purdue's executive MBA in agribusiness, which he directs. Akridge received the award from R1.edu, a consortium of 88 institutions classified by the Carnegie Foundation as major research universities. Miroslaw J. Skibniewski, assistant executive vice president for academic affairs and a professor of civil engineering at Purdue, has been appointed president of the International Association for Automation and Robotics in Construction. The IAARC has corporate, academic and individual members in 25 countries, with headquarters in London. Carol B. Post, professor of medicinal chemistry in Purdue's Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology, was one of seven distinguished biophysicists recently elected to serve a three-year term on the Biophysical Society's Council. Post's research aims to understand the regulation and function of protein-protein interactions associated with cell signaling and viruses.
