Jischke to welcome President's Council
for weekend events
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue's past glories and future promises come together when the university's 10th president and first lady play host for the President's Council Weekend Oct. 27 and 28. This is the first President's Council Weekend for Purdue President and Mrs. Martin C. Jischke.
The President's Council Weekend draws the university's highest level supporters and enthusiasts for two days of events that give members opportunities to celebrate Purdue's venerable traditions and discuss its visionary ambitions.
"The President's Council plays a pivotal role in Purdue's strategy for excellence," President Jischke said. "This weekend gives Patty and me a chance to meet council members, thank them for their generosity and discuss our mutual aspirations for the university's next level of success."
President's Council Annual Weekend begins with an Oct. 27 breakfast at the Purdue Memorial Union followed by "Back to Class" sessions from 9:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. The popular "Back to-Class" sessions give attendees a chance to attend lectures presented by some of Purdue's most distinguished professors who discuss new developments in their fields of expertise. Lecture topics range from bioengineering to genetics to nanotechnology.
Also on the evening of Oct. 27, the President's Council dinner and awards ceremony will honor membership recruitment and other service to Purdue. Festivities continue Oct. 28 when members share a pre-game social hour and buffet before the football game against Ohio State.
The President's Council, Purdue's most generous donor group, was established in 1972. It is comprised of Purdue alumni and supporters who give a minimum of $1,000 to the university annually.
