Purdue Red Ribbon Week Walk/Run to be held Oct. 14

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The annual Purdue Red Ribbon Week Walk/Run will begin, rain or shine, at 8 a.m. Oct. 14 in front of Wiley Hall.

The Walk/Run, sponsored by University Residences, begins and ends in front of Wiley Hall. Participants can run a five-kilometer route or walk one and a half miles.

Participants who pre-register by Friday (10/6) receive a commemorative T-shirt on the morning of the event. There is a $10 entry fee and forms are available by calling (765) 494-2312.

All proceeds go to the Purdue Red Ribbon Week Fund, which provides money for education, training and counseling in the prevention of drug use and abuse. The fund was originally named the Jay Severson Memorial Fund. Severson, a graduate student and hall counselor, was shot and killed by another student at Wiley Hall in October 1996.
