September 29, 2000 Ag career fair to be held at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources Career Fair will be held Tuesday (10/3) at Purdue University. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms. According to Allan Goecker, assistant dean of the School of Agriculture, the career fair will bring employers and students together to share information. "It's an opportunity for students to better understand career opportunities, for faculty to interact with employers so they can better advise students, and for employers to come to campus," Goecker said. More than 100 companies are expected to be at the career fair. Companies are looking for students with degrees from all areas of the School of Agriculture, from natural resources to agricultural economics, Goecker said. Approximately 750 to 1000 students from all levels of study are expected to attend. Job-seekers can make some great contacts according to Lora Helvie, a senior in ag communications from Muncie, Ind. "The ag career fair is a great way to get your name and your resume out to potential employers," she said. All students are welcome to attend the career fair. There is no pre-registration and no fee to attend.
