September 29, 2000 Jischke to keynote 'Focus on Teaching' lecture seriesWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University President Martin C. Jischke will address the university's commitment to teaching and the learning experience as keynote speaker for the fourth annual "Focus on Teaching" Lecture Series and Teaching Academy Induction program. President Jischke will deliver his keynote speech on Thursday (10/5) at 7:30 p.m. in Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. The presentation is free and open to the public. The lecture series features the following "Conversations About Teaching" throughout the school year. The talks are held in the West Faculty Lounge in the Purdue Memorial Union at 3:30 p.m.: Oct. 18 David Schoorman, professor of management, "Teaching at a Distance: Some Observations About Learning in the Virtual Classroom." Nov. 28 C. Douglas Sutton, associate professor of civil engineering, "Teaching Civil Engineering at Purdue: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow." Jan. 30 J. J. Price, professor of mathematics, "Confessions of a Curmudgeon." Feb. 27 John Graveel, professor of agronomy, "Team Teaching and In-Class Exercises."
