June 30, 2000 Women's Resource director to start in AugustWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Karen Hall, the former director of the Women's Center at Miami University, has accepted the position of director for Purdue University's Women's Resource Office. Hall will start her new job in early August, said Alysa Rollock, vice president for human relations. Hall served as the Women's Center director from the fall of 1996 to the summer of 1999. She has been working on a doctorate in English from Michigan State University, where she also earned bachelor's and master's degrees in English. "I'm excited to be coming to an institution with the reputation for excellence that Purdue has," Hall said. "The university has already made great strides for women. Purdue has the capacity to be a national leader in creating a welcome and equitable climate for women and minorities at all levels of the university. I'm looking forward to working with the Purdue community to move it closer toward this goal." As director of the Women's Center, Hall supervised a staff of 50 employees and volunteers at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. She also headed up a state-funded project to create a cooperative system to help Ohio colleges and universities deal with sexual assault issues. At Antioch College in Ohio, Hall established a sexual offense prevention and survivors' advocacy program. She has made numerous presentations on sexual assault prevention throughout the Midwest over the past decade.
