Manufacturing management students
earn scholarships
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue University's Dauch Center for the Management of Manufacturing Enterprises (DCMME) has awarded $1,000-per-semester scholarships to undergraduate juniors and seniors minoring in manufacturing management.
Twenty-one undergraduates received the awards for the fall 2000 semester. The awards are automatically renewable for up to four semesters for awardees who maintain a B grade average. The DCMME scholarship amount may total $4,000 per student. The collective grade-point average of the fall 2000 group is 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.
The Dauch Center in Purdue's Krannert School of Management promotes and enhances the field of manufacturing management. As part of that mission, DCMME administers an undergraduate academic minor in manufacturing management.
The purpose of the DCMME scholarship program is to attract top-caliber students to manufacturing. The center also provides incentives for Krannert faculty to do research that addresses challenges faced by the manufacturing sector and establishes opportunities for interchange among faculty, students and managers of manufacturing operations.
Students chosen to receive scholarships are designated DCMME Manufacturing Management Scholars and are invited to DCMME's biannual Partners' Meetings, where the students have the opportunity to personally interact with high-level manufacturing executives. Scholars are also invited to participate in monthly DCMME Scholar meetings to provide feedback on the manufacturing management curriculum.
