EDITORS: During the summer months, the calendar will be mailed every other week. The weekly schedule will resume when the fall semester begins in August.

This calendar lists selected Purdue events during the next five weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**). All events in this calendar, plus many others, are listed in Purdue's online calendar.

Updated travel directions around road construction zones near campus are available on the Web.

EVENTS

** • Sunday, Aug. 6. Commencent. 2:30 p.m., Elliott Hall of Music. Tickets, issued free to all candidates for degrees, are necessary for admission.

ENTERTAINMENT

• Tuesday, July 4. 6 p.m. Slayter Center of Performing Arts. In conjunction with the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra's "Stars and Stripes" Concert, Purdue Jazz Band presents a European Tour 2000 send-off concert.

• Tuesday, July 11. 7 p.m. Purdue Summer Band free concert. Slayter Center of Performing Arts.

OTHER

• Tuesday, July 4. Independence Day. Official university holiday. Offices will be closed, and no classes will be held.
