Sheep association sponsoring camp and show

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Indiana Junior Sheep Association will conduct a lamb camp and market lamb and breeding stock show May 27-28 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds, Noblesville.

The lamb camp will begin at 10 a.m. May 27 and will conclude with a showmanship contest at 7 p.m. Youths with limited sheep experience will participate in sessions on fitting, ethics and sportsmanship, management, judging, and showmanship. Young people with advanced experience and their parents will learn about fitting, nutrition and health from sheep industry leaders. Other leadership activities are planned throughout the day.

Cost of the camp is $25 per youth. Lunch and dinner will be provided.

Exhibitors between the ages of 8 and 24 are eligible to enter the market lamb and breeding stock show on May 28. Check-in and weigh-in runs from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., with the breeding stock show slated for 1 p.m., followed by the club lamb show and showmanship contest. Brad Angus of Joliet, Ill., will judge the market lamb and breeding stock show.

The entry fee is $12 per animal, which can be paid during check-in and weigh-in.

The Indiana Junior Sheep Association was established in 1999 and is sponsored by the Indiana Sheep Breeders Association and Purdue University Cooperative Extension Service.
