This calendar lists selected Purdue events during the next five weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**). All events in this calendar, plus many others, are listed in Purdue's online calendar.

• Tuesday, May 9.  South Bend-Elkhart Statewide Technology Commencement. 7 p.m. Joyce Center, University of Notre Dame.

• Tuesday, May 9.  Purdue North Central Commencement. 7:30 p.m. Valparaiso University Chapel.

• Sunday, May 14.  Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis Commencement. 3 p.m. RCA Dome.

• Sunday, May 14.  Columbus and Southeastern Indiana Statewide Technology Commencement. 7 p.m. Columbus Holiday Inn. (Southeast ceremony rescheduled from May 11.)

• Wednesday, May 17.  Purdue North Central Commencement. Noon. Westville Correctional Facility. Graduation ceremonies for students who are inmates at the correctional facility.

• Sunday, May 21.  Purdue Calumet Commencement 1:30 p.m. Star Plaza Theatre, Merrillville.

ENTERTAINMENT

** • Thursday, May 11.  Child's Play Touring Theatre Company. 7 p.m. Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. As the culmination of a year-long millennium arts education project called "Bridging the Centuries" spearheaded by Purdue Convocations, the actors will perform works written by Lafayette-area elementary school children. Tickets are $5 at campus box offices or by phone at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. Four other shows on May 10-12 will be special matinees for school children.

• Saturday, May 13.  PMO Varsity Glee Club End-of-Season Concert. 8:30 p.m. Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. Tickets are $10 for public, $8 for students, at the Loeb Box Office or by calling (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW.

• Friday and Saturday, May 19 and 20.  Staged reading of an original play, "The Creature," written by Richard Thomas, Purdue associate professor of theater. 8 p.m. Experimental Theatre, Stewart Center. Presented by Purdue Theatre, Elliott Hall of Music Productions and the Department of Computer Graphics Technology. • Friday-Sunday, May 25-28.  "All-American" Marching Band performs at Indianapolis 500 Race festivities. The band will entertain at 6 p.m. May 26 at the Indianapolis 500 Staff Dinner; at 6 p.m. May 27 at the Indianapolis 500 Banquet and at 7 p.m. that day during the Indianapolis 500 Festival Parade; and at 5 a.m. May 28 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway before the race.
