Purdue police investigating attempted robberyWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Purdue University police were called to the Purdue Memorial Union this afternoon (Wednesday, 4/26) after a man demanded money from a cashier. Detective Capt. Steven R. Dietrich said the incident occurred about 3:40 p.m. when a white male went to the check-cashing window on the main floor of the Union. When the suspect demanded money, the cashier left the window area, a co-worker called 911, and the suspect fled on foot. No money was given and no weapon was displayed. Police searched the area immediately after the incident, but found no one matching the suspect's description. The victim said the male was in his mid-20s, with a thin build, about 6 feet tall and wearing a hooded blue sweatshirt.
