This calendar lists selected Purdue events during the next four weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**). All events in this calendar, plus many others, are listed in Purdue's online calendar.

Updated travel directions around road construction zones near campus are available on the Web.

EVENTS

** • Friday, April 7.  Emerging Technology Forum Day. 9-11:15 a.m. Fowler Hall, Stewart Center. Industry speakers, faculty and panels address bringing emerging technologies from mind to market. Sponsored by the Krannert Graduate School of Management. (NOTE: Date has been changed from March 31.)

** • Friday, April 7.  Indiana Collegiate Job Fair. 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis. Purdue and Indiana universities co-sponsor the event, which is open to all job seekers. Last year approximately 100 companies sent representatives. Candidates will submit a resume at the fair to be scanned into the Resume Link interactive database. Registration costs $10 at the door.

** • Friday, April 7.  Public forum: "Back to the Moon or on to Mars: What Should Be Humanity's Next Step in the Exploration of the Cosmos?" 8-10 p.m. Room 129, Electrical Engineering Building. Presenters are Alan Binder, chief scientist for the Lunar Prospector mission, and Pascal Lee, NASA research scientist and head of the Haughton-Mars Project. Sponsored by Students for the Exploration and Development of Space.

• Saturday-Sunday, April 8-9.  19th annual Holocaust Remembrance Conference. Theme is "Our Town – Overcoming Prejudice." Many sessions are held on campus in the Class of 1950 Lecture Hall. A full schedule of events is available in an online news release.

• Saturday. April 8.  12th Annual National Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. 11 a.m. Elliott Hall of Music. Teams from Purdue and six other colleges and universities demonstrate the complicated and humorous machines they built to place seven of the 20th century's greatest inventions in a time capsule. Each machine must use 20 or more steps and complete the operation in less than nine minutes.

• Monday, April 10.  Women in Engineering Career Day. This daylong event, sponsored by Purdue's Schools of Engineering and the Society of Women Engineers, is open to all young woman in their junior year of high school, as well as their parents and teachers. The cost is $10 per person, which includes lunch. Amy Ross, a space suit project engineer with NASA who earned bachelor's and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from Purdue, will deliver the keynote speech. • Thursday, April 13.  University Day. A campus cleanup day sponsored by Purdue Student Government. Students, faculty and staff volunteer an hour between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. by reporting to booths located around campus including the Memorial Mall, Hicks Library, Agriculture Administration, Lynn Hall, Grissom Hall, the Purdue Armory, Founders Park and the Purdue Mall.

• Saturday, April 15.  Mothers Weekend arts and crafts sale. 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Purdue Memorial Union ballrooms and first-floor lounges. Sponsored by the Student Union Board.

• Saturday-Sunday, April 15-16.  Springfest, Bug Bowl and Mothers Weekend. There will be a variety of events each day across the south campus. For details, check the online news release.

** • Friday-Sunday, April 28-30.  Gala Week. The Purdue Alumni Association has planned reunions, entertainment and activities for alumni who return for the university's annual Gala Week celebration. A complete schedule is online, or contact the association at (765) 494-5175 or paa@paa.purdue.edu.

** • Saturday, April 29.  Paul Spotts Emrick Reunion Luncheon and Bust Dedication. Luncheon. 11:30 a.m. Anniversary Drawing Room, Purdue Memorial Union. Dedication of Emrick Bust, 1 p.m., Bands Plaza rear of Elliott Hall of Music.

** • Saturday, April 29.  Grand Prix go-kart race. 3 p.m. Grand Prix Track north of Ross-Ade Stadium. Tickets cost $5 in advance and $6 at the gate. Grand Prix Foundation members are selling advance tickets in Room G2, Stewart Center. There will be no Grand Prix carnival of amusement rides and midway attractions this year. Revenues that would have come from the carnival will be replaced by a portion of the concession sales from a football team scrimmage at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.

ENTERTAINMENT

• Thursday, April 6.  "The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber," the Broadway musical. 8 p.m. Elliott Hall of Music. Tickets are $16, $25 and $33 for the public; $15 and $18 for Purdue students, at campus box offices or by phone at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. Part of the Department of Convocations' Lively Arts Package.

** • Friday-Sunday, April 7-9.  Purdue Theatre Workshop. Shows at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday. Black Box Theatre, Creative Arts Building 3. An ensemble of undergraduate actors will present four works from John Patrick Shanley's "Welcome to the Moon and Other Plays." Admission is free.

• Friday, April 7.  Tommy Flanagan Trio. 8 p.m. Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. Tickets are $20 for the public, $12 for Purdue students, at campus box offices or by phone at (765) 494-3933 or (800) 914-SHOW. Part of the Department of Convocations' Jazz Set. Preconcert Jazz Cafe begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Sagamore Room of the Purdue Memorial Union.

• Saturday, April 8.  Black Cultural Center's Cultural Arts Series: Jahari Dance Troupe Spring Revue. 7 p.m. Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. The troupe performs a repertoire that includes African, ballet, folk, jazz, tap and modern dance. Tickets: $5 for students, $7 for the public, available the evening of the show at Loeb Box Office, Stewart Center.

** • Saturday, April 8.  Singing for Greater Lafayette: A Celebration of Community to Benefit the Restoration of the Long Center for the Performing Arts. 7:30 p.m. Long Center, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette. All proceeds from this benefit performance, sponsored by Purdue Musical Organizations and the Lafayette Rotary Club, will go toward restoration of this historic structure. Student members of PMO ensembles and a select Greater Lafayette area children's choir will perform. Tickets are $50, $30 and $10, on sale at the Long Center box office, (765) 742-5664.

• Sunday, April 9.  Purdue Bands Windworks II Concert. 2:30 p.m. Long Center for the Performing Arts, 111 N. Sixth St., Lafayette. Free.

• Tuesday-Wednesday, April 11-12.  Sesame Street Live: When I Grow Up. Shows at 7 p.m. Tuesday; 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday. Elliott Hall of Music. Presented by Purdue Convocations. All tickets for 4 p.m. show are $10; Tickets for 7 p.m. shows are $15, $13 and $11 for adults, $15, $11.50 and $9.50 for children 12 and under. • Thursday, April 13-Sunday, April 22.  Purdue Theatre presents "Arcadia" by Tom Stoppard. 8 p.m. Experimental Theatre, Stewart Center. (No performance Monday, April 17.) Schedule includes a 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday, April 16, in addition to the show at 8 p.m. that day. • Wednesday, April 5.  Jewish Studies Noon Lecture and Discussion Series. 12:30 p.m. Room 320, Stewart Center. Topic: "The Legacy of Moses Maimonides." Speaker: Stuart D. Robertson, pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, West Lafayette; Biblical Hebrew lecturer in the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures; and adjunct professor in Purdue's Jewish Studies Program.
