Faculty and staff honors

–  Renee Thomas, director of the Black Cultural Center, was honored at the YMCA Salute to Women Banquet. Chosen from 48 nominees, Thomas was one of six top award winners. Salute to Women recognizes Greater Lafayette women for their successes and achievements.

Campus activities

–  A deceased Purdue student will be recognized during the monthly Golden Taps ceremony at 10 p.m. Tuesday (3/21) in Spitzer Court, Cary Quadrangle. The honored student is Frank Tamburrino, a junior in the School of Liberal Arts from Crown Point. The Golden Taps ceremony gives the Purdue community an opportunity to formally honor and reflect on the lives of students who have died during the previous month. Pendragon, the student leadership honorary at Cary Quadrangle, sponsors Golden Taps.

– Purdue's Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Association will break ground for a Habitat for Humanity house at 6 p.m. Friday, March 24, at 215 Ellsworth St., Lafayette. The two associations and individual chapters already have raised 80 percent of the funds needed for construction. Members from each of the chapters will perform the actual construction.
