Project Now brings high schoolers to campus

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University's School of Agriculture has developed a new program to help ease the transition from high school to college.

Project Now is intended for 10th- to 11th-grade high school students who are college bound. The program is scheduled for April 15. It begins with registration at 8:30 a.m. in Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center, and runs to 11:30 a.m.

After the opening session, participants will attend a panel discussion featuring current students in the School of Agriculture. Topics to be covered include career opportunities in agriculture; student life; campus activities; and majors available in the School of Agriculture. Academic advisers will also be at the session to answer questions.

Next, students will participate in a part of the program known as Professor in the Classroom. Participants will attend a college lecture by Ralph Williams, professor of entomology, who will teach on forensic entomology and how insects are used in crime investigations.

There is no fee for the program, but advanced registration is required by March 31.
