Young teens learn about college
through Purdue's Project Future

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Junior high students can be university students for a day as part of Project Future sponsored by Purdue's School of Agriculture.

Project Future, designed to help with decision-making about college, is for seventh- to ninth-grade students who are interested in continuing their education past high school. The event is scheduled for April 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration will be in Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center.

The participants are divided into groups, with each group led by a current School of Agriculture student. The groups tour the campus and attend classes. Hands-on experiences are part of many classrooms at Purdue, so depending on the classes they choose, the students will make flower arrangements; take a field trip to the Columbian Park Zoo; feel the inside of a live cow; or use a computer to "zoom-in" on individual farms and towns in Indiana.

There is no fee for this event, but advanced registration is required by March 31. For a registration packet, contact Beverly Lynch at the School of Agriculture, Purdue University, 1140 Agricultural Administration Building, West Lafayette, IN 47907 or by e-mail to blynch@agad.purdue.edu.
