Career day planed for future women engineers

The annual Women in Engineering Career Day for high school juniors will be April 10 at Purdue University.

Amy Ross, a space suit project engineer with NASA who earned bachelor's and masters degrees in mechanical engineering from Purdue, will deliver the keynote speech.

The career day will provide students an overview as well as specific information on the various areas of engineering. There will be lectures or demonstrations by professors and students at Purdue. There also will also be two panels: one of practicing women engineers and one of women engineering students.

The event is sponsored by the Schools of Engineering and the Society of Women Engineers at Purdue. A similar career day for high school seniors is conducted during the fall semester.

The cost of the daylong Women in Engineering Career Day is $10 per person for students and parents. Lunch is included. The registration deadline is April 3.
