February 8, 1999 Purdue Theatre guest director will speak at bookstoreWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The design concept transforming Purdue Theatre's upcoming production of William Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" into "A Rock Fantasy" will be explained this Saturday (2/12) at Barnes & Noble Booksellers. Guest Director Lara (LAIR-ah) Teeter refers to the upcoming production as "A Rock Fantasy," and he will discuss the design team decisions that resulted in this concept at 2 p.m. at the bookstore at 2323 Sagamore Parkway S. To illustrate his points, Teeter's talk will include samples of costume and scenic design renderings. In addition, Teeter will debut portions of an original rock music score written and composed by third-year Purdue graduate student Cory Kent, a master of fine arts candidate from Orland Park, Ill. Purdue Theatre presents "The Comedy of Errors" Feb. 18-19 and 24-26 in Loeb Playhouse, Stewart Center. The show begins at 8 p.m. each evening and on Sunday, Feb. 20, at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 for the public, $8 for students and senior citizens. For ticket information, call (765) 494-3933. Teeter has extensive experience in performing, directing and choreographing for both educational and professional theater. His work as a professional actor includes three national tours most recently as the Scarecrow opposite Mickey Rooney and Eartha Kitt in the 1998 production of "The Wizard of Oz"and eight Broadway shows. He was nominated for a Tony Award for his role in "On Your Toes." He was a tenured professor at California State University-Fullerton before returning to professional theater full-time in 1997.
