Feb. 10: North Central Indiana Cow-Calf Workshop

Indiana cow-calf producers are encouraged to attend this free workshop in Logansport, Ind., on the selection and development of replacement heifers. The workshop is sponsored by Purdue's Cooperative Extension Service in cooperation with Stoney Pike Livestock Auction. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the workshop runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Washington County Extension educator Byron Fagg and Purdue food animal clinician Mark Hilton will speak about what to look for in a replacement heifer and how to maintain the animal after bringing it home. Feb. 11-12: Indiana Dairy Conference

This conference at the Indianapolis Marriott hotel is for producers from dairy farms of any size. Sessions will cover new corn varieties for silage; harvesting corn silage; overall management; working with consultants; and environmental regulations. Registration is $40 per person, and $20 for each additional person from the same farm or family. The fee includes refreshments, noon luncheon, conference banquet, and one buffet breakfast. Feb. 14-15: International Grazing Conference

Producers can learn the latest about grazing during this two-day conference in Shipshewana, Ind. Topics to be covered include grazing for dairy, beef, sheep and horses; how to get started in grazing; how to master the art of grazing; and alternative marketing techniques. The conference will be at the Shipshewana Antique Auction Barn. The cost is $65 for the first person from each farm and $55 for additional people from the same farm. After Feb. 7, the registration fees are $5 higher.
