January 14, 2000 Wine symposium to educate on Indiana wine industryWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Commercial and amateur winemakers can learn more about Indiana's wine industry during the Indiana Wine and Grape Symposium Jan. 24-26 at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Indianapolis. Included on the agenda are beginning workshops on grape growing and winemaking; a tasting of experimental wines made at Purdue University; and workshops on marketing and grape growing. A grand banquet is also planned, consisting of a five-course meal accompanied by Indiana wines. Speakers will include Don Marsh Jr. of Marsh Supermarkets; Bruce Bordelon, Purdue associate professor of horticulture; Ellen Harkness, Purdue analytical technologist; and Richard Vine, Purdue professor of food science who will discuss the Indiana wine industry in the new millennium. The cost for the symposium is $30 for members of the Indiana Winegrowers Guild and $40 for nonmembers. The Indiana Winegrowers Guild is a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 to unify the wine and grape industry in Indiana. The symposium is being held in conjunction with the Horticultural Congress.
