Was named outstanding teacher in agricultural economics at Purdue in 1997, 1987-89. Has traveled and worked professionally in more than 20 countries. Has extensive media experience. Biotech crop contractsJames PritchettAssistant professor, agricultural economics (765) 496-6262 Primary research, Extension, and teaching efforts are in grain production economics and grain product marketing, with a particular emphasis in specialty grains and oilseeds. Conducts Extension programs to help farmers decide whether to plant genetically enhanced grains. Also helps farmers evaluate specialty grain contracts. Current research includes evaluating the potential for value-added agricultural production in Indiana, investigating the potential of specialty grain contracts, risk management opportunities in specialty crop production, and consumer demand for nutraceuticals. Also researches the economic impacts of vertical integration in the pork industry. Teaches undergraduate grain marketing and advanced agricultural marketing to graduate students. World trade issuesPhilip L. PaarlbergAssociate professor, agricultural economics (765) 494-4251 Expertise in international developments concerning the acceptance of biotechnology and the impacts of U.S. agricultural trade. Has worked on international trade issues and policies for 23 years. Previously worked with the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture as section leader of the International Economic and Trade Policy Section and as an agricultural economist in the Commodity Policy Section. Has written numerous papers on export subsidies. Has experience working with print, radio and television media. Speaks German.
