Faculty and staff honors Agricultural economist Chris Hurt has received Purdue's 1999 Hovde Award of Excellence in recognition of his work analyzing crop and livestock markets to help Hoosier families make difficult management and marketing decisions. The Hovde award is presented annually to a Purdue staff or faculty member who has made an outstanding contribution to the progress of rural Indiana. Eight agricultural leaders from industry and Purdue chose Hurt for his two decades of service. He received $800 and a plaque at the Indiana Farm Bureau annual convention in Indianapolis on Dec. 11.
