Alumni Association names three Special BoilermakersWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The Purdue Alumni Association honored three long-time staff members with Special Boilermaker Awards for 1999. The recipients were Linda H. Ewing, associate dean of students; Richard E. Grace, director of the Undergraduate Studies Program; and Lanny C. Wilson, director of administration for University Residences. Between them, they have served Purdue for 114 years. Ewing has worked in the Office of the Dean of Students for 34 years. She has served as an adviser to a number of student groups and organizations, and for many years was involved in Purdue's Old Masters program, which brings successful alumni back to campus to interact with students. Grace joined the Purdue faculty in 1954. After serving as a professor and department head in the Schools of Engineering, he was vice president for student services before founding the Undergraduate Studies Program, which allows students to explore career options before choosing a major. Wilson has been a Purdue staff member for 35 years. He has helped accommodate many students with special needs in his tenure and is involved with a number of student organizations and activities, including Tomahawk, the Varsity Glee Club and the Residence Hall Council. The Purdue Alumni Association presents Special Boilermaker Awards to individuals or groups who have contributed in important ways to improving the quality of life for Purdue students.
