November 19, 1999 11 youths selected to attend national 4-H conferenceWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Eleven Indiana 4-H members have been chosen to attend the 1999 National 4-H Congress. These 4-H'ers will receive scholarships to attend the annual conference Nov. 26-30 in Atlanta. The congress is designed to involve youths in planning and implementing 4-H programs. Delegates will learn to proactively address issues that are of concern to today's youths, and they will be taught the importance of committing to actively working in their home communities. The program aims to prepare youths to become members of the work force and to educate them about citizen politics. It also serves as a recognition program for youths who have made outstanding service and volunteer efforts in their communities. The 11 students selected to attend the National 4-H Congress, listed by county, are:
4-H, the largest youth-serving organization in the country, reaches youths through a variety of programs in both rural and urban settings. In Indiana, 4-H is a part of the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service.
