November 5, 1999 Location changes for precision agriculture workshopWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. A Nov. 17 precision agriculture workshop sponsored by Successful Farming magazine will be at the Randolph County Fairgrounds rather than the Davis-Purdue Agricultural Center, as originally announced. The fairgrounds are on U.S. 27 outside Winchester, Ind. The workshop is aimed at producers who have yet to decide if space-based yield monitoring and global positioning systems (GPS) would be well-suited to their operations. Producers will get hands-on experience with yield monitors, yield maps and GPS mapping. Discussions will include: Installing, calibrating and using yield monitors. Using GPS to navigate in fields. Interpreting yield map information. A panel of farmers who use GPS will also discuss their experiences with the technology. The Purdue Cooperative Extension Service will contribute to the program content, and lunch will be included in the $25 cost of the workshop. Registration deadline is Nov. 12. For more information or to register, call Paula Barbour at Successful Farming magazine at (515) 284-2852.
