November 1, 1999 Alumni association to distribute foam finger for footballWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. Purdue fans will be able to show Wisconsin who's No. 1 Saturday (11/6), thanks to the Purdue Alumni Association. The association, in conjunction with its Internet portal partner iBelong, will give away 10,000 foam fingers with the words "Go Boilermakers!" and the alumni association logo on the front. The back side will contain the URL (http://www.purduealumni.ibelong.com) for a new Internet site set for launch this week. The site will contain Purdue news, on-line shopping links, stock quotes and customized national news, weather and sports. A portion of the alumni association's profits generated by the site will be earmarked to support student scholarships. "We're excited about the product that Joe Tiller has put on the football field every Saturday," said Larry Preo, executive director of the Purdue Alumni Association. "And we're very excited about our new partnership with iBelong. We think alumni and friends of the university will make the site their main home on the Internet." The foam fingers will be distributed Saturday at the Alumni Cafe, the tent sponsored at each home football game by the alumni association. The tent, which will open at 10:30 a.m. for the 3:30 p.m. Wisconsin game, is next to Slayter Center at the corner of Stadium Avenue and Intramural Drive and features food from the Purdue Memorial Union and other giveaways. WGLM Radio will broadcast live from the Alumni Cafe. Source: Larry Preo, (765) 494-5179; lspreo@purdue.edu Writer: J.
