Purdue TV show resumes production for academic year

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – "Purdue: A Closer Look," the university's weekly television news and feature magazine, returns to The Purdue Channel on Monday (10/25).

Each half-hour program includes a campus news update, feature segments and a studio interview. In Greater Lafayette and on Purdue's West Lafayette campus, the program is seen at noon Monday and Friday and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on The Purdue Channel (Insight Communications Channel 5; University Residences Television Antenna System Channel 15; and Purdue Cable Network Channel 4).

The show is presented jointly by the Division of Instructional Services, the Office of University Relations and the Agricultural Communication Service, and co-hosts are Beth Forbes, news coordinator in Ag Communications, and Greg Zawisza, director of special projects in University Relations.

Zawisza said the start of production for the 1999-2000 season marks the 10th anniversary of the program. It was launched in 1989 as a one-hour live call-in show. The format was revised to its current length and content in 1990.

"Each week, it's our aim to give viewers on campus, in the community and around the state a 'slice of life' at Purdue by focusing on the university's wide range of programs, services and outreach," he said.

In addition to the local telecasts, the program is seen at various times on cable outlets and select public TV stations around the state.
