Sept. 29: Project Equality

Educators and community representatives interested in sexual assault prevention education for youths and youth organizations can attend a training session for "Project Equality." The curriculum teaches students in grades 7-12 about respect, communication, healthy relationships and safety. The free training will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at the Hancock County 4-H Building in Greenfield, Ind. Sept. 28-30: Safe Teen Driving

Purdue's 4-H Youth Department, the Community Systemwide Response Initiative and the Governor's Council on Dangerous and Impaired Driving are hosting a seminar on teen driving issues. Teams from CSR and individuals interested in teen driving issues are invited to attend. Workshops for the first day will cover a wide range of topics related to teen driving. During the second and third days, teams will participate in designing a statewide campaign encouraging safe teen driving. Continuing education credits are available from the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board. The seminar will be at McCormick's Creek State Park near Spencer, Ind. Sept. 30: SIPAC Foresters' Tour

Professional foresters are invited to hear about red oak underplanting, controlled burning, site productivity and other topics at the Southern Indiana Purdue Agricultural Center (SIPAC) Foresters' Tour. Demonstrations of light-on-land logging equipment and mechanized harvesting will also be featured. Sponsors are the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry, U.S. Forest Service, Indiana Society of American Foresters and Kimball International Inc. Events will begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at 4 p.m., and continuing education credits are available. Registration is closed, but journalists are welcome. Oct. 5: Agricultural Career Day

Approximately 80 agriculture-related companies will have representatives on Purdue's campus to accept resumes and discuss career opportunities. The career fair, sponsored by the School of Agriculture, begins at 9:30 a.m. and runs until 3:30 p.m. in the North and South Ballrooms of the Purdue Memorial Union. Oct. 19-21: Cooperative Extension Service Annual conference

Extension educators from Indiana's 92 counties and on-campus specialists once again will gather in Stewart Center on Purdue's West Lafayette campus. In addition to attending the annual awards banquet, Extension personnel will be trained in farm crisis response, environmental stewardship and youth and family concerns, all of which are issues earlier identified as the Extension Service's "plan of work." Oct. 29-Jan. 14: Iq+ Beef Sales

Indiana is launching the IQ+ Beef program, a nationwide effort designed to ensure safe, wholesome and palatable beef. Beef producers and veterinarians are teaming up with program sponsors such as the Indiana Beef Cattle Association, the Indiana Board of Animal Health, the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association, and the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service to raise high-quality cattle. Program cattle that are certified IQ+ Beef are managed under practices that result in superior beef products. Cattle in the program are identified by a distinctive tag in the left ear.
