Campus activities

– A deceased Purdue student will be recognized during the monthly Golden Taps ceremony at 10 p.m. Tuesday (9/21), in Spitzer Court, Cary Quadrangle. The honored student is Amy Hartlep, who was a sophomore in the School of Nursing from Otterbein. The Golden Taps ceremony gives the Purdue community an opportunity to formally honor and reflect on the lives of students who have died during the previous month. Pendragon, the student leadership honorary at Cary Quadrangle, sponsors Golden Taps.

Faculty and staff honors

– Michael G. Rossmann, the Hanley Distinguished Professor of Biological Sciences, has been named a Fellow of the Biophysical Society for his achievements in science and contributions to the field of biophysics. Rossmann was one of 39 scientists named to the first class of Biophysical Fellows. He is best known for his pioneering work in modeling the structure of viruses. In 1985, his group became the first to solve the structure of an animal virus when it mapped the three-dimensional structure of a common cold virus.
