This calendar lists selected Purdue events during the next four weeks. Events are free and open to the public, except where noted, and all are open to news media coverage. New or updated listings have two asterisks (**). All events in this calendar, plus many others, are listed in Purdue's online calendar.

Updated travel directions around road construction zones near campus are available on the Web.

EVENTS

  • Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 20-21. Department of Restaurant, Hotel, Institutional and Tourism Management Career Day. Events include a job fair from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the South Ballroom of the Memorial Union; a lecture at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in Room 218 Stewart Center by the president of the National Restaurant Association; a senior reception from 5-6:30 p.m. Monday at Stone Hall; and a lecture at 2 p.m. Monday in Room 206 Stewart Center by the chairman, president and CEO of Promus Hotel Corp.

  • Wednesday, Sept. 22. Study Abroad Information Fair. 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Purdue Memorial Mall. Purdue faculty and students who have been abroad through Purdue programs will be available to speak with students about international study, work and internship opportunities. The Purdue Study Abroad staff will be on hand to answer questions about the 150 programs Purdue offers to students who wish to study abroad for a year, a semester or a summer.

  • Thursday, Sept. 23. Women's Studies Open House. 4:30-6 p.m. Anniversary Drawing Room, Purdue Memorial Union. Meet the director, faculty and staff, learn about the program's activities, and meet other campus and community women's groups.

    ** Saturday, Sept. 25. Dedication of the Holleman-Niswinger Flight Simulator Center. 9 a.m. Purdue University Airport. Tours of the facility will be available after the brief ceremony.

    ** Friday, Oct. 15. "Sweetest Day" rose sales by the Purdue Horticultural Society. 7 a.m.- 5 p.m. Stewart Center, under the mural.

    ** Friday-Sunday, Oct. 15-17. Homecoming Weekend. Events for alumni include breakfasts and brunches, receptions and open houses, lunches and tailgate parties, all revolving around the football game against Big Ten rival Michigan State. Kickoff will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. A full list of events is on the Alumni Homecoming World Wide Web site.

    ** Saturday, Oct. 16. Dedication of the new Black Cultural Center at 1100 Third St. 10 a.m. A Homecoming Weekend event.

This contemporary dance/ illusion/ acrobatic company will present the Midwestern premiere of "In Orbit," a piece about space exploration.
